Paradigm

Sound installation 2010

Paradigm is a two track sonic installation (a four track version also exists). The recordings contain personal stories submitted by women who tell about their relationship to their personal, long-term bodily pain. The texts are read aloud by male and female actors. The different tracks emanate from separate speakers, allowing for the voices to randomly intermingle, intervene, and interrupt one another, accordingly creating an overarching soundscape in the narrow, enclosed space. One of the intentions with the project is to discuss the effects of pain and its ontological status, its forms of time, on the body in pain.

The recording of "Paradigm" is made at Kulturstudion, Stockholm, and Gallery Rotor, Gothenburg.

Thanks to the women who submitted their stories. Thanks to the actors who lent their voices to the project.
